Film Review for Zero Dark Thirty

"When you lie to me, I hurt you."

Zero Dark Thirty is a film based on the true events that followed the 9/11 attacks against the United States. The recreation of the man hunt for Osama bin Laden shows the “behind the scenes” work of all involved; including interrogation tactics, tracking of key people who would possibly lead to bin Laden, and the work of Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 who would eventually end everything with two simple words, “Target Secure”.

I loved Zero Dark Thirty. I have always enjoyed military themed films, based on true events or not, they’ve always been a good watch; and Zero Dark Thirty has definitely made the list of films that I will watch again. The only complaint that I would have about the film is how the timeline is structured. Understandably, the timeline moves quickly throughout because they can’t show every single day of work towards the mission. But with how quickly the timeline jumps from date to date, and location to location, it really makes the viewers focus extremely hard on where the movie is (location and time), and what events transpired there.

My love for military themed films played a big role in my decision in picking Zero Dark Thirty as my number 1 for the film review assignment, and played a role in my review on the film as well. My respect towards the military also played a role in my review and choice, because I have a high amount of respect towards what all of those men and women do. Everybody has their own opinion on the military and how they operate, but I’ve always respected the fact that they put their lives on the line in order to keep us safe.
