-Macklemore
Music has always been there for me; and as original as that may sound, it's true. From the moments that I needed to tune out the world, have a ridiculously stupid-looking dance session, or to get through a rough day, music was always there.
So, here is my playlist. Well, not my actual playlist because if I were to put my entire playlist on here of songs that meant something to me, you would be reading for quite sometime...
"If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away" by Justin Moore
I'm not going to go into to much detail why I am able to connect with this song so much. Because, well, it's a touchy subject for me. But what I will say is that, I couldn't imagine any other artist performing this song. Justin Moore does an outstanding job with this song; not only with the music video of it, but just the overall meaning and performance of it. This song has gotten me through some pretty difficult times. For me, it's a reminder that the ones who have passed on in our lives are always around, watching over us.
So, obviously this isn't the original music video for the song. But, I always found it really amazing when artists sat down with only their guitars and just sang their hearts out, even though they didn't have their band or any other instruments to help them out. It just felt more personal and touching when they took the time to do these versions of their songs.
"The Dance" by Garth Brooks
Just like, "If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away", "The Dance" is also a highly important song for me. It seems that everybody that listens to this song gets a different meaning, or image, from it. Some people see it as a love gone bad song, while others see it as more of a "meaning of life" song. For me, the song talked (sang) about how we go through some rough times in life, and that sometimes we may want to give up; but we can't give up, because then we would miss out on our "dance".
"That Summer" by Garth Brooks
Hands down, Garth Brooks is my favorite artist of all time. I know basically every word, to every one of his songs (which sounds kind of weird). But, his songs have always spoke to me; so I became really dedicated to knowing all of his songs. While I do know basically all of his songs, "That Summer" is my favorite Garth Brooks song. Yes, I do know that the story of this song is a little more "adult" like. But for some reason, this song has always been easy for me to get lost in and tune out the outside world.
"Carolina Can" and "Jack Daniel's and Jesus" by Chase Rice
Chase Rice probably has to be my second favorite artist. Like Garth Brooks, his songs really speak to me. Whenever I listen to "Carolina Can", I'm reminded that when I'm losing my way, or questioning about what to do next in life, that my home will always be there to remind me who I am, and that things will eventually be okay. "Jack Daniel's and Jesus" has always been a strong reminder song for me. This song has always reminded me that even though you may screw up in life, or have a rough past, that there is still time to "right your wrongs", and make the rest of your life better.
"Blank Space" by Taylor Swift (covered by I Prevail)
Okay, so this song is kind of the "odd ball" on my playlist. While I mainly listen to country music (as you can tell by the rest of my playlist), I do occasionally like to venture out and listen to different genres of songs. While this may be an unpopular opinion, the cover version of "Blank Space" that I Prevail did seems to be the better version of the song. For me, the song is just better sounding, and more fun to listen to. My brother-in-law had me listen to the cover version of this song, and I'm glad he did. I Prevail is an astounding band, and I've grown very fond of their music (considering that I've grown up listening to nothing but country music).
This sounds really goofy, but I've always found it fun to just crank this song up on my phone and jam out to, "head-banging" and all. It's fun to venture out of your comfort zone of music sometimes. You never know what kind of artists you'll stumble across. As said before, if I were to list every song that meant something to me, you would be reading for awhile. While these songs are amazingly good, and all mean something to me, they're just a glimpse into all of the different array of songs that I listen to.
Chasta, really interesting Blog post!;) Garth Brooks is also one of my looked up to artist. Country music the best<3 Country music tends to have better messages than a lot of todays pop culture songs.
